I an informed by Mr. Spilman, agent of the American Mission here that a certain case is being detained in Hongkong by reason of its containing amongst other goods five hundred „22 salihre cartridges: the case is marked as
follows:-

.P.EX 00.
1. Taylor
Bangkok 46416
No. 520
This case was shipped from Chicago on the 30th. August 1918 and spart from the above small quantity of oartridges is said to contain milk only. The representative of the Mission now states that, if the authorities cannot release the cartridpe, he would be greatly obliged if the remaining contents of the case could be allowed to come forward.
I have the honour to recommend this request to your favourable consideration, and if there is no objection, I trust that it may be found possible to permit the transship- ment of this case to Bangkok, sither by extracting the cartridge in Hongkong, or by consigning it intact to His Majesty's Consulate General høre who sould arrange for the withdrawal of the prohibited goods at this port, though it would perhaps be preferable that the prohibited goods should be removed in Hongkong.
I should observe that the United States amboseedor in Lendon appears to have beer, novad by the American Presbyterian Mission Board to bring the detention of these goods to the notice of Bis Kajesty's Government, end
